"An Evening With The Radical Narcissist"
Sands Joseph Horwitz Dijks Murray-Wassink
St. Petersburg, Russia 2006. Sands strips, puts on a wig,
skirt, perfume, eye makeup and does a nose kissing performance with
the audience. What does it all mean? Where was Brandon Teena in
the collective unconscious and the vast plains of Kansas youth that
Sands grew up in?
On the basis of the video documentation of the performance The
Radical Narcissist in St. Petersburg, Russia, Sands
would like to discuss with the audience what issues connect
us, the "fundamentals" of being humyn and how we can work
to build bridges in our lives and reach out to others, share emotions
and "how it feels" and work to make the world a better
place to live in. Sands would especially like to discuss issues
of negotiation and navigation in life in terms of behaviour
and communication and relationships/friendships, and building to
make lasting and effective bonds.
He will also present his recently published book,
Profeminist WHITE FLOWERS
which discusses manic depression in his life and work, moments of
sensuality and pleasure in between the stress, and a love and integration
of perfume and art collecting passions.
